PEIA Emergency Preparedness Series - Evacuation Field Trip - Saturday, June 28 @ 10-11:30am
Hey Parkridgers,
We talk a lot about preparedness and evacuation. But how do you know you are truly ready? There’s only one way to find out. Test it!
And so that’s exactly what we are going to do. Bring your go-bags, and we are going to walk from the far end of Parkridge Estates to the Merritt College gate. This is a 1.5 mile one way-trip walk (1 hour). We will meet at Dustin’s house and start our journey from there. We will have a car drive you back to the start line.
Why so far? Why can’t you just simply walk from your home, you ask? Well, we know that if you can walk from the far end of Parkridge Estates and back, you’ll be able to handle any detours that get thrown at you in the event of a real emergency.
What if you realize mid-way through the field trip you bit off more than you can chew? That’s ok. We will have support vehicles to give you a ride back.
What if you are unable to participate at all, due to age, disability, or lack of physical means? This is the perfect time to start to think about alternative plans and what help you may need from family, friends, and neighbors. Please reach out by replying to this email and we can start to strategize on how to help people like yourself who are in this position.
Want to be part of the party but don’t feel like walking? Can you be a driver instead? Awesome! We can use your help! Please RSVP.
And what’s your reward for participating? We will have lunch waiting for you when you complete your journey. Plus you’ll get to hang out with all the neighbors who embarked on this adventure with you. You can chat about your newly formed blisters and complain about how heavy your go-bag was.
Our Ask Of You For This Event:
1. These events are only successful because people like you participate and add to our neighborhood culture. We want to see new faces. Can you talk with and bring 2 neighbors?
2. Can you make a $5 contribution to PEIA, to support events like this? (Please bring cash or make a digital contribution. Information will be provided at the event. Contributions can also be made via ParkridgeEstates.org/Contributions )
3. Please RSVP - see below.
